Spirits’ of the Soul
“Rhythm and harmony find their way into the secret places of the soul."
This piece was commissioned by The Honourable The Irish Society. Entitled "Spirits’ of the Soul” it takes pride of place in the foyer of St Cecelia’s College in Derry, Northern Ireland.
The sail shape in the background is made from oak and reflects the story of St Columba leaving Ireland and sailing to Dalriada in 563 A.D.
The musical note, a bass clef, carries St. Cecilia the patron saint of music in a restful pose. It is based on the sculpture at her tomb by Stefano Moderno.
